I’ve worked with Spitalfields Market on numerous occasions, from advertising their arts market to their Christmas events and more. This involved creating videos for their big horizontal screens as well as their vertical totem screens around the market. Below are some examples of the work that I’ve done for Spitalfields.
Spitalfields Christmas
For Christmas, Spitalfields were hosting a Christmas show and wanted to advertise this to their visitors. We created a video just using a single graphic they had given us, so we produced the rest based on Spitalfields’ branding. I transformed the snow effect into a curtain opening, and then created a 3D book in Cinema 4D, as the the show was about a storybook.
Using this, we also produced videos for Spitalfields Market’s other Christmas offerings such as their Santa’s grotto, where the public had the opportunity to meet Santa. Our job was to create advertisements for the event for the digital screens around the market. Using the assets designed by the creative director, I animated a video displayed on the screens (in both horizontal and vertical formats) to show the public what was available and when they could visit.
Spitalfields Arts Market
Spitalfields Market host a regular arts market and wanted a way to display that to their visitors on their digital screens, showing what it was about and when it was happening. We had some video footage from the market but the rest of the content was to be created by us. The creative director produced a logo for the arts market and some design elements (e.g. patterns, squiggles, etc) and asked me to animate a video from there.
I started by animating the logo, playing with the cartoony feel of it by adding a boil effect to it and adding some secondary animation squiggles to the bounces. I then took the video we were provided with and used the drawing options within After Effects to manually draw frame by frame onto the respective pieces. Then, with the final video, I rotoscoped the man out of the video, changed the playback speed and made three different coloured versions of him follow the original.
Bishops Square Regeneration
For this project, Spitalfields Market were updating their market in Bishops Square, and we needed to inform the public about what was being done. We were given the document summarising the changes and, from that, we created an animation to display all the information in a user-friendly way.
We began by creating an opening sequence that gave a brief summary of what was happening and then moved on to showing graphic renders from the project, starting with a map and then diving into each of the areas. We then finished the video with an ETA on completion and uploaded the video to the digital screens at the market.
